Hilary’s CPK Clothes Closet

Coleco created hundreds of outfits for Cabbage Patch Kids in the 1980’s and there are many questions that collectors need answers to. I am attempting to find and publish the questions, and the answers. Join me on this journey.

  1. I avidly read your blog and wonder if my brain is getting too old now to clearly understand ALL the different codes etc! Could you please settle for me exactly what the clothing tag which says “Coleco Canada LTEE” refers to. Is it just on clothing reserved for clothes in Canada for Coleco/P’tits Bouts de Choux clothing or was it used for some Jesmar clothes? Thanks, Eve in Australia

      1. Thanks! I’m not sure this does solve my issue. I knew LTEE meant ‘company’. What I want to know is how was Jesmar clothing identified. Tag – no tag? If they had a tag what did it say.? I know the Jesmar cord rompers did not have button holes and their knit dresses did not have a decal but I don’t know about the other clothes. I really do appreciate your advice. Thanks, E v

        1. Also a good question. I should do a Jesmar tag post huh? Okay, quick answer, (so that I don’t have to rewrite the post, which I will try and get up by this weekend) some are tagged, some are not, some are tagged twice. There are two types of tags that come in Jesmar clothes (when they are tagged) but we have no idea why. I’ve started trying to record whether the clothes came on ‘Canadian’ kids, but I don’t have enough data yet to make a connection. I will try and get the post out by this weekend. Is that okay?
As for differences in the clothes themselves, yeah, there are a lot. Over time you can start to identify a lot of Jesmar or foreign clothes just by looks. I’ll mention any I know in the post but I haven’t focussed that closely on the Jesmar clothing yet. I’m trying to draw a line . . . it’s not working so well! He he.
Let me know if you continue to have questions or something is confusing!

          1. Thank you again! I look forward to all your posts each week. I hope, one day, to be able to contribute to your search for codes etc!

            1. Hi Eve! I just wanted to let you know that I am working on the Jesmar post. I’m afraid it won’t be ready until tomorrow but it is coming.
